It's a question none of really want to answer. Undoubtedly, hand-held devices play a major role in most peoples lives. They do make our lives so much easier and offer entertainment to us at any time. However, we must be careful not to forget the world that is around us.

We totally agree that phones are great for productivity, but one thing that has really helped us cut down on screen time is asking, why, what I am turning my phone on for. It can help stop unnecessary binges on digital content that we could really just do without. If you are not planning on doing anything useful or beneficial to yourself, ask your self what you could be doing instead. Maybe try to find a good book to get stuck into or attempt some meditation to clear your mind.

Many people seek pleasure from the mobile phone by distracting themselves from pain and suffering in their life. But unfortunately, doing things such as browsing through social media full of people's highlights is not going to be helpful, even though we know how fun it is to scroll!

There have been studies showing that social media can be bad for your mental health, and exploring how your phone affects your memory or attention span in deleterious ways.

A few other ways to cut down on your screen time is, firstly, to set goals. Would you like to spend more time learning a new skill or reading? Make this clear to yourself so you have it fresh in your head in times of boredom.

Secondly, use apps such as Screen Time and Digital Well Being to set reminders on your phone to tell you when its time to stop scrolling! And lastly, don't take your phone to bed. It's a simple task and can ultimately help you sleep better and feel more relaxed in the morning.

No one is expecting you to give up your phone altogether. That's not an option for a lot of people that rely on it to assist them in so many things throughout the day. But a few little key chances to free up some extra time in your life can be so beneficial to you.
